Week 23 6/12 through 6/18

Wow,, what a great week.  The weekly goal was 10 hours of training.  I ended up putting in 10 and a half.  I always was an overachiever..

I did a 4000 meter open water swim at the springs and finished in one hour and 15 minutes.  This was incredible for me.  I felt really good on the swim.  Nice and smooth, even though I managed to run into a few other people.  At bike workout I did the program and then ran 3 miles afterwards.  Everything felt really good.  Bike continues to feel really comfortable.   I took it out on Wednesday for a 43 mile ride.  Weather was good, not too much wind and the traffic was light.  All in all it made for a great ride.  Average speed was 16.5 MPH.  Not too bad since it was a hilly ride.  This was the dam loop from Bee Caves up to the Arboretum and back to Bee Caves.   On the flats I managed to keep a 20 MPH speed.  The bike feels really nice.  Unfortunately, I had to send it off to CDA.  I dropped it off  on Thursday and will not see it again until I get to Idaho.

Saturday morning, I ran 10 miles. I got to a point that was furthest out from where I started and got caught in a torrential storm.  Rain, wind, lightening and a lot more rain.  I was soaked.  I kept running,,, stopping would do no good so, I just kept on plodding along.  I was one of a few idiots out running in the rain.  It turned out to be one of the best runs that I have had in a long time.  Yea,,

For a few days this week, I was in panic mode.  I was beginning to doubt myself. It is those little demons that get in your head and try to convince you that you have not trained enough, don't have the ability and have no business doing an IM.  It was amazing how these little nagging doubts creep into your head.  They stuck around for a few days and then left.  I know that they will pop up again.  I just have to remember to not take them serious.  Acknowledge them and push them aside.
